The Rhinoplasty Revision Process

Consult

The initial consult for this procedure is extremely important, as it will decide your candidacy, and or the possibilities that can be achieved with the surgery. Please be prepared to provide your complete medical history, as well as all medications you may be taking, a list of allergies, and any documentation of previous surgeries. After candidacy approval, there is an extensive physical examination as well as blood tests, before the South Florida Center staff takes photographs and reviews your surgical plan. In preparing for the procedure, important instructions will be provided for you including cautions about consuming certain foods, medications, or alcohol. Certain protocols for hygienic purposes will also be given.

Procedure

The procedure varies based on each individual case, what you want to achieve with the surgery, as well as what has already been performed (removed, shaved, added, etc.) Your surgery will likely involve one or more of the following:

  • Sculpting the nasal bridge: decreasing size or re-building it with a cartilage graft
  • Soft tissue irregularities covered with a natural fillers
  • Reshaping the tip of the nose
  • Perfecting the shape of the nostrils
  • The reopening or reshaping of the nasal passageways for increased breathing function

Recovery

Following your procedure the surgeon will bandage your nose and surrounding area and apply a splint for protection. Light gauze might also be applied in the nostrils for five days, while the splint and other bandaging generally remains on for a week. Slight discomfort as well as swelling and mild bruising may also occur, but typically begins to reduce after the fourth day. Do not be alarmed by any redness or slight discomfort in breathing, especially if gauze is applied in the nostrils. We will make sure to consult with you on best breathing and eating/drinking practices for your enhanced comfort.

Normal activities and light exercise or sports may be resumed after three weeks; however any activities involving a potential direct impact to the face or nose such as volleyball, football, or anything strenuous should be avoided for six weeks. As always, please consult us if you have specific questions on activities during recovery.

Post Surgery

Following your procedure follow-ups are: one day, one week, and one month after the procedure. After that visit, further appointments will be advised by the doctor.

Lindsey W.

“I did a rhinoplasty with the South Florida Center after doing research. My surgeon was so sweet and professional and had a great approach and worth ethic. I was born with a deviated septum and it has bothered me for 28 years. My nose is now perfect, and I really could not be happier.”

A consultation with one of our top-tier surgeons would best provide this information; however we are dedicated to our patients being satisfied with their appearance and will do what we can to find a solution.

Our surgeons are expertly trained and can usually make all necessary incisions inside of the nose to avoid visible scarring. Every patient and revision surgery are different though, and during your consultation these questions will be specifically addressed.

General anesthesia is always provided during our procedures, and here at the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we only have general anesthesia administered by a professional M.D. Anesthesiologist.
