During your initial consultation please expect to provide your complete medical history, including a list of all current medications, allergies, and previous surgeries. Upon deciding your candidacy based on goals and a conversation with your surgeon, you will also undergo an extensive physical exam and blood tests before our staff takes photographs to aid in planning and performing your Abdominal Etching procedure. Prior to your surgery, after your surgery date has been set and deposit received, you will be given an informed consent procedure as well as instructions including cautions about taking certain medications, drinking alcohol, and specific hygienic protocols.

After general anesthesia is administered, as always here at the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Miami, an M.D. Anesthesiologist, the Abdominal Etching surgery is highly-specified liposuction performed by breaking up targeted areas of abdominal fat and then removed to sculpt abdominal muscles. This will enhance the definition of the abs and achieve the look of a chiseled abdomen. Afterwards your surgeon will close the strategically placed minimal incision sites and apply bandaging.

After your surgery, most patients need at least a week of full recovery time due to the nature of the abdominal area of the procedure. Expect swelling and some bruising is likely for the first 4-6 weeks when the swelling goes down and results are truly visible. Results may also continue to develop during the first year.

After the first week of recovery time, avoid working out or any other strenuous abdominal activity for six weeks. Specific instructions for your recovery will be given by our staff. The schedule for follow-up office visits are 1-day, 1 week and 1 month after the procedure, then any further will be advised by your surgeon
