Our free virtual initial consult process can save you time and trip to Miami. Afterwards at the initial surgical consultation expect to provide your complete medical history, a list of all current medications, any allergies, and any previous surgeries. Photos and video will be reviewed by our plastic surgeons to determine the best surgical plan for you.

Once you place your surgery deposit and have a date to have surgery with our center in Miami, you will need to undergo an extensive physical exam, blood testing, and an informed consent process. Our experienced and highly trained staff take before photographs to aid you and your top-tier surgeon in planning and performing your Labiaplasty. You will also be given instructions to prepare for your procedure, including precautions regarding certain medications, alcohol consumption, and detailed hygienic protocols.

At our state of the art center here in Miami we only have board certified M.D. Anesthesiologists administer anesthesia. Labiaplasties are performed by one of two different techniques (trim method or wedge method), which one will be decided upon by you and your surgeon in the pre-op consultations. During the trim procedure your surgeon makes a strategically placed incision along the edge of the inner labia (labia minora) then removes the excess tissue from that area so the size and shape planned.

If the second, wedge, method is being performed your surgeon will make smaller incisions across the width of the labia to remove a small wedge of tissue shaped like a “V” before stitching together the remaining tissue into the size and shape discussed. In both methods dissolvable stitching is used, which will naturally dissolve during recovery time. Both procedures are usually completed in 1-2 hours.

Due to the nature of the procedure, there is some expected soreness after the initial procedure. A specific management plan for comfortability and instructions for sitting, toilet use, etc. will be discussed with your surgeon and our staff to make sure you are as comfortable as possible in your recovery.

Some initial swelling may occur but will subside within a month when the Labiaplasty results will be seen. Most patients can return to normal activities within 2-3 weeks. Intercourse or the use of a tampon is not suggested for 6 weeks following the procedure, but specific instructions about activities and recovery should be discussed with your surgeon and our knowledgeable staff.

After your procedure an ointment like Aquaphor or RepHresh will be administered to the area to keep it moist, and should continue to be used for one week. The schedule for follow-up office visits are 1-day, 1 week and 1 month after the procedure. After these appointments, your plastic surgeon will advise of any additional appointments and any further instructions post-procedure with you.
